SSGC has been presented with the highest badge of honour in recognition of our continued support of the armed forces.
We have been awarded with the prestigious gold award from the Employer Recognition Scheme, which identifies businesses that provide exceptional support to the armed forces community by going above and beyond their covenant pledges.
Our CEO David Stubbs said: “This is a fantastic achievement and rubber-stamps our longstanding commitment to the armed forces community.
“We signed the Armed Forces Covenant pledge in 2020 but our support extends far beyond that – and for much longer than that. It’s also far more than just a financial commitment for us and we all take a personal responsibility to address issues at the heart of the armed forces community every day.
“Today, we offer veterans an unprecedented chance to rebuild their lives after serving in the forces, be it support with handling PTSD or helping them with the tools they need to use utilise their skillset in a new industry.”
Former military policeman Keith Horemans is a prime example of an armed forces veteran who has been supported and empowered by us. .
Keith was recruited by SSGC in 2021 and is now leading on several initiatives as its armed forces champion, all aimed towards improving the lives and wellbeing of veterans around the country.
Keith said: “I have had a tremendous journey with SSGC and have really enjoyed putting policies and procedures together, all of which have made a difference to veterans and their families around the country.
“The team at SSGC really went above and beyond in helping me settle in and overcome the challenges I faced since returning home.
“I am incredibly grateful for it all. This award really is a testament to SSGC’s fantastic work and I cannot wait to see what’s next in store.”
